Fractions and Decimals Project

Project overview

The students were divided into groups, each group consists of four students.  The group needs to find a perfect recipe (the original recipe) for a dinner party. After finding the perfect recipe, the group will need to modify by making 4 times the ingredients for a bigger party (the big party recipe) and half of the ingredients to a smaller party (the small party recipe). The ingredients should be converted from fractions to decimals.  On the day of presentation, the students will need to create a display of their findings and make a product using only one of the recipes.

The Display must include the following :

  1. Title of project is the name of the dish.
  2. Original recipe ingredients include at least 4 different fractions (at least 2 mixed numbers).
  3. Original ingredients are displayed along using fractions and decimals.
  4. All recipes are clearly labeled: Original, the big party, the small party.
  5. All fractions are in simplest form; improper fractions are written as mixed.
  6. Include all cooking instructions with ORIGINAL recipe only.
  7. All math calculations are accurate and included on separate paper.
  8. Display is neat & well organized.
